What do I need to get started? What types of CAD drawings do you accept?

Typically we ask customers to submit a technical drawing and model. We prefer Solidworks files but will accept nearly all types of CAD files.

What file types do you support for upload?

If submitting files through our website, we encourage you to combine multiple files into a .ZIP folder.

You may also upload the following file types:
.ZIP | .PDF | .SLDPRT | .SLDDRW | .IGES

Please upload your files via our Quote Form.

I don’t have a 3D model; what do I do?

Though 3D models make manufacturing easier and save money, they aren’t necessary. If you’re looking to have one made, send us your technical drawing and we’ll add it to your manufacturing quote.

I don’t know if something can be machined; what do I do?

Where do I submit a quote? What if I have large files or multiple files?

A request for a quote can be submitted through our website. Batch files are best submitted compressed in a zip container file. Though we encourage everyone to use our RFQ Form on our website, quotes can also be submitted to quote@iqmsol.com. *Please remember to include your company name and contact info.

How long will it take to receive a quote?

Typically quotes are complete by the next business day if submitted before noon. We do ask for a minimum of two (2) business days before requesting a status update.

What is the minimum quantity for prototypes? What are the maximum quantities for production orders?

Minimum quantities for prototypes range from 2 to 10 pieces, depending on how complicated the part is. Our typical large quantities of production orders range from 140pcs to 2400pcs a month depending on complexity and cycle times.

What are your part size limitations?

Our 3-Axis work envelope is 25” x 50” x 25” and our 5-Axis work envelope is Ø27” X 18”

What type of materials do you work with? What types of materials are stocked in house?

Our shop can handle just about any material on the market with our specialty being steel. Although we specialize in a wide variety of tough steels such as tool, high speed, stainless, and CPM steel, we have extensive experience with aluminum and copper alloys as well as exotic plastics and acrylics. Our in-house stock usually contains flat and round stock of 1018, 8620, 4140, A-2, S-7, 6061, and 954. For rush orders, stock can usually be ordered and delivered the next day.

What are typical lead times? Do you offer expedited prototype or production orders?

Lead times typically fall in the 2 to 3-week range but can be as quick as 2 days including shipping. Rush orders are always available and can be added to your quote at any time.

Do I need to setup an account? Can I pay with a credit card? What are normal payment terms?

Yes, an account is created on your first order. Three credit references are required in which payment terms will be net 30. A partial payment is required on the first 10 orders which will be determined on the quote and will not exceed 50 percent. Currently, we do not accept credit cards.
